EGM 2026 in Split: Four Days of Inspiration, Learning and International Connections

From 16 to 19 April 2026, the stunning Croatian city of Split welcomed the Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM) 2026, the largest European conference dedicated to the internationalisation of higher education and entirely organised by volunteers of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN).

Bringing together more than 1,200 participants from across Europe and beyond, EGM 2026 provided a unique platform for students and volunteers to exchange ideas, develop new skills, and strengthen the international community that promotes mobility, inclusion, and active citizenship.

Empowering the Erasmus Generation

This year’s edition focused on two key themes:

  • Developing Competences through Volunteering and Student Mobility, highlighting how international experiences and volunteer engagement help young people grow both personally and professionally.
  • Recognising the Impact of Student Engagement, emphasising the importance of valuing the skills gained through mobility programmes, volunteering, and non-formal learning experiences.

ESN Udine at the Heart of the Experience

A delegation of volunteers from ESN Udine proudly represented the section throughout the event, taking part in workshops, plenary sessions, discussions, and networking activities. The experience offered valuable opportunities to connect with peers from all over Europe, exchange best practices, and bring back fresh ideas to strengthen local initiatives.

A Hub of Learning and Innovation

Over four intensive days, participants could choose from more than 150 sessions covering topics such as volunteering, university cooperation, skills development, inclusion, sustainability, and career opportunities within European institutions. One of the highlights was the EXPO Fair, where ESN sections showcased their projects, local activities, and academic partnerships, creating a vibrant space for collaboration, inspiration, and innovation.

More Than a Conference

For the volunteers of ESN Udine, EGM 2026 was much more than an international event. It was a chance to learn, connect, and be inspired by a network of passionate young people working towards the same goal: building a more inclusive, connected, and internationally minded future.

Returning home with new ideas, stronger partnerships, and renewed motivation, the delegation is ready to transform this experience into new opportunities for students in Friuli Venezia Giulia and beyond.
